Programs

Therapy includes individual, family and group therapy delivered by licensed mental health professionals to include clinical social workers, clinical counselors, and marriage and family therapists. All therapists are certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and use a strengths based model. Therapy is individualized to the students’ needs and includes a variety of methods including cognitive behavioral therapy, art and play techniques, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation and many others.

All therapeutic services are based on the student’s diagnostic assessment. Goals and objectives are written in partnership with the parent(s) and caregivers outlining specific interventions that will be given to the student to ensure successful progress. Families are a critical part of the treatment process and are involved at every step. Therapy sessions are flexible and can be scheduled with the individual therapist to meet the needs of the student and family.

Northwood therapists participate in regular case consultations and multidisciplinary reviews with access to clinical psychologists, psychiatry and nursing whenever needed. All therapists stay current on training and education while also receiving clinical oversight and supervision at Northwood Children’s Services.
