Park Point Beach House

Near the end of the peninsula, called Park Point, is an attractive building on park grounds. The Park Point Beach House is situated on the 10 mile long sandy beach of beautiful Lake Superior.

Northwood Enterprises is a youth entrepreneurial project. Northwood Children’s Services acquired the operation of the Park Point Beach House from the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Duluth in 2007. The building was painted from floor to ceiling, decorated and landscaped by Northwood students and staff.

Northwood students manage and operate the concession stand during the summer months. The Northland Foundation provided a $1,000 Youth Entrepreneurial grant in 2008 that helped with start-up and operational costs. The Northwood Enterprises follows a Junior Achievement Model. The young people who manage and run the concession stand must dress properly, greet and serve the customers, prepare and serve the hot dogs, popcorn, etc., operate the cash register, keep inventory, place orders for soda and food items, and, of course, sweep, mop and clean daily.

All proceeds from Northwood Enterprises are dedicated to the youth at Northwood Children’s Services. The youth are paid for their work while learning valuable work experience skills.

Northwood Enterprises also manages the rental of the Beach House for birthday parties, graduation parties, anniversary celebrations, class reunions, wedding receptions and other festivities. Contact Jerry Snyder at (218) 349-1226 for additional information or to book your event.
