Summer adventures are coming soon! The boys and girls at Northwood attend our two campus schools 11 months a year. August is the month for trips and exciting summer explorations. The kids are counting the days!

This summer we plan on sending 120 boys and girls to Camp Olson YMCA which is located in Longville, Minnesota. Camp Olson is an inspiring place comprised of 1, 250 acres of forest and fields. The main Camp is situated on Little Boy Lake. There is an Adventure Outpost on Cooper Lake. In addition, there is a private chain of three lakes (called the Shurds) used for canoeing, fishing, and wilderness camping.

Camp Olson offers a unique and unforgettable camping experience. The children are bunked in rustic Northwoods style cabins and are provided an action-packed week of activities. Camp activities include sailing, horseback riding along several miles of trails, fishing (5 lakes), hiking, arts and crafts, and a sauna to relax in after a full day.

The theme at camp this summer is the “Gold Rush”. Our creative staff will provide daily games and events for our campers that will include geo-caching for “gold” nuggets, a rodeo, sailboat regatta, archery, evening variety shows and skits, beach parties, and nightly campfires and sing-along’s.

Our own staff serve as camp counselors, cooks and bottle washers. All of our counselors are first-aid and CPR certified. Our waterfront counselors have lifeguard certification. Our cooks prepare delicious and wholesome meals for the hearty appetites of the children and staff.

Our campers live, learn, and discover the “Spirit of the Northwoods” through new friendships, learning new skills, and exploration of the outdoors. Will you help sponsor a boy or a girl? The cost for each child to spend a week at camp is $90. Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
